CW Maybe Developing Wonder Woman Origin Story

Wonder Woman returns to TV again? Let's hope so!!
This would be a dream come true if it comes to pass, but according to vulture.com, the CW maybe developing an origin story type series for Wonder Woman.  It's been more than a year since the last failed attempt to bring Wonder Woman back to the small screen but this is by far, the most promising.

First of all, I feel better knowing it is being developed for the CW.  Second, this show (if it happens) will give us the origin story that David E. Kelley's failed pilot did not provide.

Meet the new "Super" hero Powercouple!

Okay, when you think about it, this really isn't that much of a stretch. I mean, even when I was younger, I thought that Wonder Woman and Superman would make a great couple. Well, now DC is just making it 'official' featuring their relationship in #12 issue of Justice League.

Warner Brothers Giving Wonder Woman Another Shot...on the Big Screen!

[Digitalspy.com] Yesterday, Warner Brother hired screenwriter Will Beall as the leader writer for a new Justice League movie.  Now, another big bomb: Warner Brothers is giving Wonder Woman another shot...on the Big Screen!

Wonder Woman on the big screen?!
This honestly surprised me, but after reading headline after headline about this, I could not believe it.  Warner Brothers' hired screenwriter Michael Goldenberg to pen the script.

Michael Goldenberg
His credits include 1997's 'Contact,' Peter Pan in 2003 (which was very good if you haven't seen it), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and both Green Lantern movies.

Now, back to why this headline surprised me: David E. Kelley's failed Wonder Woman pilot.

Kelley's Wonder Woman script was not good.  It was the most hyped up pilot of the 2011 fall season, but as soon as the script was leaked and fans got their first glimpse of the costume that Adrianne Palicki never really wore in the pilot itself, it was still doomed to fail.

So, you can understand why this movie is big news and the fact that Warner Brothers is willing to give our gal a second chance after all that bad drama last year says a lot.

Wonder Woman is notable not just for being the single most famous female superhero in existence, but for being one of the most recognizable superheroes of all time, period. It’s surprising that no one’s managed to figure out how to get her her own movie or TV series yet, but I’m glad to see Warner Bros. is going to keep trying rather than let a property that juicy go to waste. Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed that he’ll have better luck grappling with the character than the last several people did…

Let's hope Goldenberg gets it right and Wonder Woman make a BIG comeback!

Warner Brothers Hires New Screenwriter for a Potential JLA Movie

After the box office success of Joss Whedon's 'The Avengers' - I wondered how long it would take for Warner Brothers' to make a Justice League movie. DC fans need not worry any longer as DC has hired a new screenwriter: Will Beall.
Will Beall, New Lead Screenwriter for JLA movie
According to Variety:
Warners originally tried to mount a "Justice League" movie several years ago, with George Miller directing from a script by Kieran and Michele Mulroney. That iteration was set to star Adam Brody as the Flash, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman and then-newcomer Armie Hammer as Batman. Back in January 2008, the studio cited a lack of tax breaks as the main reason it pulled the plug on the project, which also needed a rewrite that wasn't possible because of the writers' strike.

If you look at the cast list for that 'JLA' movie, you'd thank the heavens it didn't go forward.  Imagine the actor behind the Winklevie brothers in The Social Network as Batman, and the geeky kid from 'The O.C' as the Flash and some random hot babe as Wonder Woman? Die-hard Christopher Nolan fans probably cannot picture anyone else in the role of the Dark Knight except Christian Bale.

Whether Bale will actually be available for this movie is still up in the air, or if the movie itself will include all famous JLA members is still a mystery.  But if Warner Brothers' is serious about this (and it seems they are this time), we could see Wonder Woman on the big screen. If the movie is a success, maybe we will see spin-off movies...Who knows? Maybe if Wonder Woman is a hit she'll get her own movie.

Beal's writing credits include 32 episodes of ABC's 'Castle,'the 5th Legal Weapon movie, Logan's Run (Look Nicolas Winding Refn-Wonder Woman connection!) and Gangster Land which is due for release in September.

Why Joss Whedon & Scarlett Johansson Should Do Wonder Woman Next

[CinemaBlend.com] There is no disputing that Marvel's 'The Avengers' directed by Joss Whedon, who I will forever love for creating Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and recently, Firefly, offers 5 reasons why Joss Whedon and Scarlett Johansson should do Wonder Woman next.

Now, back in 2005, Joss Whedon, had the chance to make a Wonder Woman movie for Warner Brothers. But the project was dropped in 2007. Joss's Wonder Woman was more like Tomb Raider's Lara Croft and that the film would explore the romance between Diana and Steve Trevor.

Whedon's recent updated sketches for Wonder Woman's costume were even reminiscent of David E. Kelley's costume.  Also, keep in mind, these updated sketches were long before DC unveiled their updated look.

The success of the Avenger's not only showed an ensemble superhero movie is possible but moviegoers will watch a strong female lead like Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, kick some serious butt and stand toe-to-toe with her male leads.  And why not even sweeten the deal and cast Scarlett Johansson as Wonder Woman?

Give Joss Whedon the chance to make Wonder Woman.  Need someone to write a strong female lead like Wonder Woman, I would vote for Joss in a heartbeat.  I mean, just look at his resume of strong female leads: Buffy Summers, Eliza Dushku as anti-Buffy slayer, Faith, Christina Hendricksas Saffron, Zoe in Firefly, now Scarlett as Black Widow...I think he has what it takes to make an amazing Wonder Woman, and not just a pin-up, sexy model.

Marvel is kicking DC's ass in the movie department. Thor, The Avengers, Iron Man -- all huge successes but DC is still lingering on male superheroes to bring in the big bucks: Batman, Superman, why not complete the trio and give us Wonder Woman? If not in a starring role, she can be featured in a 'Justice League' movie and if the fans like her, give Wonder Woman her own movie.

You get the right writer, cast the perfect Wonder Woman, don't screw up the origin story and don't piss of the fans by ruining the costume and a Wonder Woman movie or TV show is possible.

End of rant.
