This would be a dream come true if it comes to pass, but according to vulture.com, the CW maybe developing an origin story type series for Wonder Woman. It's been more than a year since the last failed attempt to bring Wonder Woman back to the small screen but this is by far, the most promising.

First of all, I feel better knowing it is being developed for the CW. Second, this show (if it happens) will give us the origin story that David E. Kelley's failed pilot did not provide.

According to vulture.com:

...the new take on the comic book crime fighter is being written by Allan Heinberg (Grey's Anatomy, The O.C.) under the working title Amazon. Unlike past TV incarnations, it will focus on Wonder Woman as a young, budding superhero, rather than a fully formed defender of liberty.

(Think Smallville, but instead of a "no tights, no flights" rule, this show might have a "no bracelets, no crown" mandate.) Heinberg seems a logical candidate for the job: His resume includes work on the kinds of soapy dramas the CW favors as well as comic-geek street cred (he wrote the Young Avengers comic book series back in 2005).

It should be noted that CW is only developing a script at this point; no pilot production has been greenlit or even contractually guaranteed.

But, everything so far seems very promising. And "If Amazon ultimately takes off, however, CW does seem the right environment for bringing back Wonder Woman: The network has a long history of successful sci-fi/superhero shows (it aired the last few seasons of WB import Smallville; Arrow launches this season) and its female-centric lineup seems a natural home for one of pop culture's leading feminist icons."about this bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684450754948026693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4144807589415458518.post-27569348623096876882012-08-22T13:40:00.000-04:002012-08-22T13:40:49.549-04:00Meet the new "Super" hero Powercouple!

Okay, when you think about it, this really isn't that much of a stretch. I mean, even when I was younger, I thought that Wonder Woman and Superman would make a great couple. Well, now DC is just making it 'official' featuring their relationship in #12 issue of Justice League.

The issue goes on sale Aug. 29, culminating months of flirty foreshadowing. [SPOILERS]
Writer Geoff Johns hints that some event — possibly tragic — will impact every member of the Justice League, and cause Superman and Wonder Woman to seek solace in each other and move from super-powered colleagues to power couple. This is no one-issue stunt: “This is the new status quo,” says Johns, adding that the relationship will have a seismic impact on all the heroes and villains in the DC universe.

The creative team believes the heroes are right for each other. She’s a mythic Amazonian warrior; he’s a veritable demigod. Both have huge hearts for mankind, yet also feel estranged from humanity. Relationships with civilians are tricky for caped crusaders, even liabilities. Usually, they choose to mask their full, true identities and hide their secret, high-risk do-gooding from their lovers to protect them. At least together, Superman and Wonder Woman can be themselves.

This article scares me, seriously but according to New York Daily News, Ben Affleck is in talks to direct Warner Brother's Justice League movie. I mean, Ben Affleck, the actor. He's not really known for his directing credentials.

I guess maybe since he played Superman in Hollywoodland that he knows a little something about DC lore but other than that, there's nothing else in his favor. Nothing else that I can see anyway.

Here is an excerpt from the article:

Faster than a speeding bullet, Warner Bros. may be ready to go toe-to-toe with Joss Whedon’s “Avengers” sequel by launching its own superhero teamup film helmed by a big-name director.

The studio is in negotiations on getting Ben Affleck to direct “The Justice League,” a future tentpole film that would unite DC Comics’ marquee superheroes, including Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman,

I feel like Warner Brothers' doesn't understand what they need to do to make a good JLA and Wonder Woman movie. First of all, Affleck doesn't have the directing credentials -- automatically, this makes me very worried. Developing Wonder Woman Before ‘JLA' and the Chris Nolan Factor[Screencrave.com] As I suspected, we will most likely get a Wonder Woman movie and other character origin story stand-alone movies before we get a 'Justice League' movie, following Marvel's film 'Avengers' franchise formula.

DC's Justice League

...which makes sense.

The question is, which movie will come first in the series? Warner Brothers' is willing to give Wonder Woman another shot, but they also have plans for The Flash, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Lobo, Suicide Squad, and Shazam.

And if Warner Brother's follows Marvel's film formula, Wonder Woman fans may have to wait a long to see her. After all, there was a four year between the first Marvel movie leading up to the Avengers. Wonder Woman could be first in line, she could be in the middle or the last movie before a Justice League movie.

[WhatCulture.com] In other news, Variety hinted that Christopher Nolan maybe approached with the job of spearheading the movies.

Nolan and his wife/producer Emma Thomas will act as executive producers to the rebooting of Batman that will come after this summer’s spectacular.

None of this means of course that Chris Nolan is directing “Justice League” or will have as much creative decision making as Joss Whedon on “The Avengers” but it does indicate he will have HUGE involvement and that will no doubt please fans who might be concerned over DC’s approach with this, considering their recent films made without Nolan’s involvement.

Either way, the situation is expected to be clearer after “The Dark Knight Rises” has left theaters;

Warner Bros. isn’t expected to make any concrete moves on the DC film front until after the third Batpic opens on July 20.
Now, another big bomb: Warner Brothers is giving Wonder Woman another shot...on the Big Screen!

Wonder Woman on the big screen?!

This honestly surprised me, but after reading headline after headline about this, I could not believe it. Warner Brothers' hired screenwriter Michael Goldenberg to pen the script.

Michael Goldenberg

His credits include 1997's 'Contact,' Peter Pan in 2003 (which was very good if you haven't seen it), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and both Green Lantern movies.

Now, back to why this headline surprised me: David E. Kelley's failed Wonder Woman pilot.

Kelley's Wonder Woman script was not good. It was the most hyped up pilot of the 2011 fall season, but as soon as the script was leaked and fans got their first glimpse of the costume that Adrianne Palicki never really wore in the pilot itself, it was still doomed to fail.

So, you can understand why this movie is big news and the fact that Warner Brothers is willing to give our gal a second chance after all that bad drama last year says a lot.

Wonder Woman is notable not just for being the single most famous female superhero in existence, but for being one of the most recognizable superheroes of all time, period. It’s surprising that no one’s managed to figure out how to get her her own movie or TV series yet, but I’m glad to see Warner Bros. is going to keep trying rather than let a property that juicy go to waste. Now we just have to keep our fingers crossed that he’ll have better luck grappling with the character than the last several people did…

DC fans need not worry any longer as DC has hired a new screenwriter: Will Beall.

Will Beall, New Lead Screenwriter for JLA movie

According to Variety:

Warners originally tried to mount a "Justice League" movie several years ago, with George Miller directing from a script by Kieran and Michele Mulroney. That iteration was set to star Adam Brody as the Flash, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman and then-newcomer Armie Hammer as Batman. Back in January 2008, the studio cited a lack of tax breaks as the main reason it pulled the plug on the project, which also needed a rewrite that wasn't possible because of the writers' strike.

If you look at the cast list for that 'JLA' movie, you'd thank the heavens it didn't go forward. Imagine the actor behind the Winklevie brothers in The Social Network as Batman, and the geeky kid from 'The O.C' as the Flash and some random hot babe as Wonder Woman? Die-hard Christopher Nolan fans probably cannot picture anyone else in the role of the Dark Knight except Christian Bale.

Whether Bale will actually be available for this movie is still up in the air, or if the movie itself will include all famous JLA members is still a mystery. But if Warner Brothers' is serious about this (and it seems they are this time), we could see Wonder Woman on the big screen. If the movie is a success, maybe we will see spin-off movies...Who knows? Maybe if Wonder Woman is a hit she'll get her own movie.

Beal's writing credits include 32 episodes of ABC's 'Castle,'the 5th Legal Weapon movie, Logan's Run (Look Nicolas Winding Refn-Wonder Woman connection!) and Gangster Land which is due for release in September.about this bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684450754948026693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4144807589415458518.post-61137142076548541432012-05-14T13:19:00.002-04:002012-06-06T12:55:19.038-04:00Why Joss Whedon & Scarlett Johansson Should Do Wonder Woman Next[CinemaBlend.com] There is no disputing that Marvel's 'The Avengers' directed by Joss Whedon, who I will forever love for creating Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and recently, Firefly, offers 5 reasons why Joss Whedon and Scarlett Johansson should do Wonder Woman next.

Now, back in 2005, Joss Whedon, had the chance to make a Wonder Woman movie for Warner Brothers. But the project was dropped in 2007. Joss's Wonder Woman was more like Tomb Raider's Lara Croft and that the film would explore the romance between Diana and Steve Trevor.

Whedon's recent updated sketches for Wonder Woman's costume were even reminiscent of David E. Kelley's costume. Also, keep in mind, these updated sketches were long before DC unveiled their updated look.

The success of the Avenger's not only showed an ensemble superhero movie is possible but moviegoers will watch a strong female lead like Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, kick some serious butt and stand toe-to-toe with her male leads. And why not even sweeten the deal and cast Scarlett Johansson as Wonder Woman?

Give Joss Whedon the chance to make Wonder Woman. Need someone to write a strong female lead like Wonder Woman, I would vote for Joss in a heartbeat. I mean, just look at his resume of strong female leads: Buffy Summers, Eliza Dushku as anti-Buffy slayer, Faith, Christina Hendricksas Saffron, Zoe in Firefly, now Scarlett as Black Widow...I think he has what it takes to make an amazing Wonder Woman, and not just a pin-up, sexy model.

Marvel is kicking DC's ass in the movie department. Thor, The Avengers, Iron Man -- all huge successes but DC is still lingering on male superheroes to bring in the big bucks: Batman, Superman, why not complete the trio and give us Wonder Woman? If not in a starring role, she can be featured in a 'Justice League' movie and if the fans like her, give Wonder Woman her own movie.

You get the right writer, cast the perfect Wonder Woman, don't screw up the origin story and don't piss of the fans by ruining the costume and a Wonder Woman movie or TV show is possible.

End of rant.
A year later, you can watch Wonder Woman pilot if you torrent it but that's not how I want to watch it. The Bitter Script Reader, in a recent blog post, talked about how networks should consider putting up failed pilots on iTunes for fans to download.

Just imagine if they'd put it up on iTunes for $1.99. They could have recouped some of the costs, and the fans would have a legitimate copy rather than resorting to piracy. It's not as if they can do anything else with the pilot, so why not try to build some kind of revenue stream?

Why NOT put every unordered pilot online? People worked hard on those episodes, doesn't their hard work deserve an audience? I think it would also be fascinating to see what didn't get ordered, sort of like playing "Fantasy Network Executive."

It's actually a really good idea, IMO. What do you all think? Would you download failed pilots from iTunes and watch? about this bloghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684450754948026693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4144807589415458518.post-21833178688560512142012-03-23T12:39:00.003-04:002012-06-06T12:55:54.936-04:00Wonder Woman #7 Revisits an old episode of Hercules, The Legendary JourneysAccording to BleedingCool.com, Wonder Woman #7 is very pornographic and Wonder Woman fans, the picture does not lie!
Then again, Wonder Woman's creator, William Moulton Marston would probably smile since the first series of Wonder Woman comics were borderline pornographic in his day.

And it is really no surprise from previous sneak peaks from older issues from DC's new 52 reboot that the new Wonder Woman, is more sexually charged than in previous incarnations. What with Wonder Woman meeting her father Zeus -- as he stands before her -- totally nude. That's not awkward at all. And then later, a visibly naked Hera, covered up by a gigantic axe confronts Wonder Woman about her paternity.

Now in the 7th issue, we learn how the Amazon women are able to keep their female status quota, so to speak.

Remember people, it takes a male and a female to make a baby and Amazon women are no different.

The premise of #7 actually draws a lot of parallels from an early episode - mini movie "Hercules and the Amazon Women," starring Kevin Sorbo and guest star Lucy Lawless (who later got her own series, "Xena.")

Hercules and Iolous investigate mysterious "beasts" attacking a small village. Upon arrival at said village, our heroes notice that there are no women. So you can see where this is going. The "beasts" are actually Amazon women in disguise who continually raid the same village for one purpose: to have sex with the males, kick them out, get pregnant and then probably come back in a few generations to 'rape' men for their seed. See this wiki entry.

Okay, we basically get the same plot with the new Wonder Woman except there is a dark twist. After having consensual sex with the men (and in a group but not all together, just look at the picture below), the Amazons kill the men they just had sex with. Yes, they are like pray mantis' who kill their mates after doing the deed with them.

Note: An interesting tidbit about Hercules and the Amazon Women, Hippolyta makes an appearance and she is portrayed by 'Touched by an Angel' star, Roma Downey.
